Halden's Hound

History, origin & features

Originally from Norway, the Halden Hound was created by a farmer named Hans Larsen Bisseberg by crossing Harriers, Foxhounds and Beagles. Several names have been attributed to it: Bisseberghund, Ankerstøver and Haldenstøver in 1938. Little is known about the breed's character, but it can be said that it is a rather independent dog that works alone. Thanks to their sense of smell, they are very good at finding game. Halden Hounds are medium-sized dogs with a sturdy yet light stance. They are proud and alert. Their coat is short, harsh and very close, with a thick undercoat. The coat color is tricolor: white with black and fawn markings. Black should not predominate.
