History, origin & features

The breed's name was changed to Bosnian Wirehaired Hound in 1973. Baraks are found almost exclusively in the former Yugoslavia. Baraks are characterized by their lively, courageous and persevering temperament. They are highly prized for bloodhounding, and their stamina enables them to work in all weathers and on all types of terrain. They have a distinctive, deep and sonorous voice. Medium-sized, Bosnian Hounds are robust yet athletic. Their serious look conceals a very jovial character. Their coat is long, shaggy and tousled, with an abundant undercoat. Coat color varies from reddish-yellow to earthy-gray, with white markings on the underparts.
