History, origin & features
The Chinese Crested Dog is believed to be one of China's oldest breeds. Today, this small animal is used exclusively as a companion dog. Chinese Crested Dogs are lively, docile and cheerful. It loves to play and is the ideal companion for children. It is not at all surly or aggressive. These small dogs are easily distinguished by their “atypical look”. They are very agile, and there are two different types: the fine-boned deer type and the heavier-built cobby type. There are two constant coat types, in various colors:
The “naked”: short hair except on their toes, tail tip and head, forming a pretty crest.
Downy” or ‘Power Puff’: body covered with long, soft hair.
