Of English origin, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (not to be confused with its cousin, the King Charles Spaniel) is a small dog derived from a spaniel breed, and was the favorite dog of Charles II of England, hence its name. The breed has been extremely popular throughout history, with many Cavalier King Charles Spaniel being the companion of great personalities. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is the ideal companion dog. Brimming with energy, they are a child's dream playmate, and their affectionate, docile nature will keep the whole family happy thanks to their permanent joie de vivre. Unlike its Breton Spaniel counterpart, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is not a good watchdog, preferring to snuggle up to its human companions. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a small dog with a short, well-proportioned body. The coat is long, with lots of feathering, and the tail is often long and bushy.
