Ariège

History, origin & features

“Originally from the Ariège region of France, the Ariegeois is an ancient breed, the result of a cross between a local hound and another hound, probably the Grand Bleu de Gascogne or the Grand Gascon Saintongeois.
Physically, the Ariegeois has retained the typical characteristics of a hound, but with less character, less size and more lightness. Primarily used for hunting, the Ariegeois is a fast, robust dog that can adapt well to the mountains.
With its gentle, docile character, the Ariegeois can be an excellent pet for children, whom it loves very much, just like its master. The Ariegeois is a medium-sized dog with an elegant, elongated physique. Its gentle gaze will win you over. Their coat is short and fine. Its coat is white with black patches, mainly on the head and tail.”
