French Pointer

History, origin & features

Originating in southwestern France, the Braque Français's genealogy is not exactly known, but it's certainly a breed in its own right, preserved unchanged for hundreds of years. There are two types of Braque Français: de Gascogne and des Pyrénées. Highly prized as a pointing dog, the Braque Français stands out for its intelligence and docility. They have an innate talent for this role. Particularly docile and gentle-tempered, they can be ideal companion dogs. Depending on the variety, Braque Francais are medium to large-sized dogs. They are hardy, muscular but not heavy. The Gascogne's skin is tighter than that of its namesake. The coat is short, white with brown flecks.
