Box

History, origin & features

The Boxer originates from Germany, and is a descendant of the old “Brabant Bullenbeisser” (bull catcher). It is the result of a cross between a German Bullenbeisser and an English Bulldog.
It was so popular with connoisseurs that the German Boxer Club of Munich was founded in 1895.
The breed was first used by hunters to catch and hold game until it arrived, before being employed by the army during the First World War, where it distinguished itself for its great working ability. Although considered a defense dog, the Boxer is one of the best-tempered dogs around. Well-balanced, gentle and playful, they adore children, and their boundless affection for their masters ensures invaluable protection in case of danger.

Beware, however, that they are very stubborn: not very obedient, they are not the easiest dogs to get to know. A good knowledge of the breed is necessary, to be sure that our lifestyle is in line with its needs. The Boxer is a medium-sized, compact dog with a powerful, muscular physique. They are clearly identifiable by their broad muzzle and bushy nose. Its coat is short. As for its coat, there are two varieties:
Fawn: from light yellow to dark deer red
Brindle: dark or black stripes along the ribs on a fawn background.
