History, origin & features
The Entlebuch Mountain Dog is the smallest of the Swiss Mountain Dogs. Originally, it was used as a herding dog and appreciated for its house-keeping instincts. Entlebuch Cattle Dogs share the same qualities as their Appenzell congeners: docile, lively, hard-working and intrepid, they make excellent herding and guarding dogs, and are even used today as “milk dogs”. The Bouvier de l'Entlebuch is the smallest of the Bouviers. It is compact, agile and powerful. Its lively expression reflects its personality. It has a short, thick coat, and the color resembles that of its namesake: tricolor in shades of black, fawn and white.
