History, origin & features
The Polish Lowland Sheepdog (or Nizinny) is believed to be descended from small Asian shepherds, such as the Tibetan Terrier, imported by the Phoenicians over 2,000 years ago.
The first traces of this formidable breed appear in a book dating back to 1783, in which its aptitudes for herding are described. Polish Lowland Sheepdogs are characterized by their docile, lively temperament.
Like many sheepdogs, they are highly intelligent and have a good memory, so they perform their work to perfection, whatever the weather.
Affectionate and playful, they are ideal companions for children.
Very easy to learn, the Polish Lowland Sheepdog makes an excellent first dog, provided its daily needs are met. The Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a medium-sized, muscular and robust breed. Long, dense hair covers its entire body, giving it a plush appearance. There's no general rule for coat color, and spots can also be present.
