Picardy Shepherd Dog

History, origin & features

We don't know the exact origins of the Berger de Picardie, which is a very old breed.
It is thought to be descended from the Celtic dogs that arrived in France around the 4th century BC. The Berger de Picardie is a well-balanced, loyal and hard-working dog. They are appreciated for their affection for their master, but especially for their love of children, with whom they love to play. This dog can easily adapt to working as a herding dog for breeders, guarding or guiding flocks, or as a housekeeper, and will also be delighted to perform the tasks of a family dog. This breed is medium-sized, with highly developed muscles, but remains elegant and elongated in appearance. Its coat is hard, medium-length, with a fine, close undercoat. Coat color varies in shades of fawn and gray.
