Welsh Terrier

History, origin & features

The Welsh Terrier is a very old breed, bred in the mountains of Wales where their Celtic owners took refuge during the Roman invasion of Britain. Welsh Terriers have retained all the qualities of a good hunting dog: hard-working, docile, courageous and lively, they are very talented in this role. But their affectionate, unafraid and cheerful nature make them excellent companion dogs. The Welsh Terrier is a small, muscular but well-balanced dog with an elongated head and longer hair on the muzzle, forming a moustache and goatee. The coat is short, wiry and thick, generally black and tan.
