History, origin & features
The Reverend Russell Terrier is a small dog. The breed, of British origin, was developed in the 19th century by Reverend John Russell from the Fox Terrier.
This small, agile hunting dog is extremely efficient at dislodging animals from their burrows. Two varieties of Russell Terrier exist today: the Jack, small, short-legged and long-bodied, and the Parson Russell, squarer and larger than its cousin.
Since the end of the Second World War, this breed has enjoyed growing popularity on the European continent, especially among hunters and horsemen. Primarily used for fox hunting, the Reverend Russell Terrier is a confident, energetic animal with a strong character. Very active, playful and affectionate, they also make excellent pets.
