maltipoo

History, origin & features

Born in the United States, where it already enjoys a certain popularity, the Maltipoo breed is enjoying growing success elsewhere in the world, particularly in Europe. The breed originated in the United States in the 1990s, from crosses between the Maltese and the Poodle, mainly the Toy. The aim was to produce small, easy-to-care-for, hypoallergenic puppies with the pleasant character of both breeds, suitable for novice dog owners.

Today, the Maltipoo is not recognized by major dog organizations such as the FCI, AKC or Kennel Club. Affectionate, energetic, sociable and endearing, the Maltipoo combines the main character traits of the 2 breeds from which it originates, the Maltese and the Poodle. Maltipoos are small dogs with a gentle, elegant appearance inherited from the Poodle and Maltese. It also has the same intelligent, alert look.
