The Border Terrier

History, origin & features

The Border Terrier is one of the oldest Terrier breeds, first used as a pack dog for fox hunting. It later became a shepherd's dog, guarding sheep and lambs. The Border Terrier is first and foremost a working dog: courageous, lively and responsive, he had no trouble keeping up with horses on fox hunts. He's not aggressive, but won't hesitate to react when necessary. Although not very demonstrative, he is very attached to his master. He doesn't allow himself to be pushed around, and young children should treat him with respect. Border Terriers are small dogs. It has a short muzzle, making it look almost like an otter.
Their eyes are medium-sized and dark in color. The ears are small, V-shaped and flop forward.

Coat colors range from grayish and tan, to blue and tan, to red and wheaten.
