Kishu Inu

History, origin & features

Among Japanese dog breeds is the Kishu Inu. This is a dog native to the mountainous regions of the Land of the Rising Sun, with a short, coarse coat and a tail curled over its back. A born hunter, they are also highly prized as companion dogs for their loyalty and intelligence. Dynamic, it needs to go out frequently and is not well suited to apartment living. The Kishu Inu is very affectionate with its master, but its training must be fair and firm. They are rarely seen in the West, which makes them both rare and desirable.
