History, origin & features
The Kai Toraken is a very old and pure breed, originating in the Kai mountain regions of Japan. Medium-sized, sturdy and muscular, they have a coat of rough hair and a dense, soft undercoat that enables them to withstand very cold temperatures. These intelligent, dynamic Japanese dogs are always on the alert, and need plenty of exercise to expend their energy. The Kai is an excellent hunting dog, able to live in a pack, and makes a perfect pet.
