Hokkaido Ken

History, origin & features

The Hokkaido Ken is a sturdy, medium-sized Japanese dog whose breed dates back more than 3,000 years. It has a short coat and can be white, beige, black or tan. Its tail curves over its back. It can easily be mistaken for a Shiba Inu or Akita Inu. He has a rather stubborn character, but remains highly intelligent, loyal and affectionate. They are excellent watchdogs, and can be tamed rather than trained. They have great stamina and enjoy outdoor activities. Although rare, the Hokkaido-Ken will delight animal lovers and provide them with many years of friendship and happiness.
