History, origin & features
Also known as the “Black and Tan Coonhound”, the Black and Tan Coonhound is an American hunting dog used to track prey, whether raccoon, bear, deer or other large game. Balanced, courageous and peaceful, Black and Tan Coonhounds are sociable and friendly. With a temperament that's not exuberant, they can work in harmony with other animals. Agile and powerful, Black and Tan Coonhounds have an unrivalled sense of smell. Energetic and toned, these large dogs are distinguished, as their name suggests, by their short hair and black coat with tan markings above the eyes, on the muzzle, chest and legs.
