The Borzoi, which means “Greyhound” in Russian, is considered the “Greyhound” par excellence in Russia. It is thought to be a cross between the Tazi Greyhound and the polar “laika” dog.
Until the Revolution, this breed was used to hunt both hares and wolves. The Borzoi (Russian Greyhound) is described as a calm, thoughtful dog.
Agile and courageous, it has gradually become a real pet thanks to its proud appearance and gentle character, to the detriment of its hunting past. Borzois have a proud, noble appearance. Slender and high-legged, its long, wavy coat gives it a light appearance.
