History, origin & features
Originating in Norway, the Norwegian Gray Elkhound (or Norsk elghund) is a very old breed dating back to the time of the Vikings, when the elkhound was their faithful companion. Norwegian Elkhounds are formidable hunters. Naturally courageous, they spot their prey with a keen sense of smell and alert their master with a loud bark. But they also have a tender, affectionate side, making them ideal for families with children. The Norwegian Gray Elkhound is a medium-sized Spitz, compact and compact, with heavier bones than its black-haired namesake. They boast a superb thick, semi-long coat of gray with black tips.
