History, origin & features
The “Lagotto romagnolo” is an ancient native breed once used exclusively for hunting waterfowl. The Romagnolo Water Dog has retained its hunting qualities: hard-working, instinctive and endowed with a powerful sense of smell, it now uses its field skills to track down truffles. Friendly, docile and affectionate, they love to play with children and remain very attached to their master. Medium to small in size, Romagnol Water Dogs are powerful, hardy but well proportioned, with a lively, playful expression. Their coat is tightly curled and woolly to the touch. Coat color varies:
Solid off-white or marked with brown/orange,
roan-brown,
unicolored brown/orange with or without white,
