Native to the Algarve province, the Portuguese Water Dog is considered one of the oldest dogs in the world. It has always been a fisherman's companion. A water dog par excellence, they have exemplary courage. Balanced, docile and attentive, Portuguese Water Dogs are extremely devoted to their master, and won't hesitate to jump into the water if the latter is in danger. These medium-sized dogs are harmonious, balanced and robust. Their very resistant coat can be long and wavy, or short and frizzy. Coat color is generally black, brown or solid white.
