History, origin & features
The Portuguese Mountain Dog is considered one of the oldest breeds on the Iberian Peninsula. It has always been used as a herding dog, and is now widespread throughout the world. There are two varieties: long-haired and short-haired. They are shepherd dogs par excellence: attentive, intelligent and courageous, they know how to handle their flock and dissuade predators from getting too close. Very attached to his master, he obeys him with his fingertips, and is very calm around children. The Mastiff is a large, imposing dog with a lively, slender appearance. Their coat is short, dense and shorter on head and legs. Coat colors are fawn, wolf and yellow, solid or spotted.
