History, origin & features
The Swiss Hound is an excellent hunter, especially when it comes to hares. With their keen sense of smell, they are docile and loyal. Very attached to its master, its gentle temperament can also work well with children, but it's not meant to be just a pet; it loves its role as hunter.
This temperament is naturally accompanied by a strong predatory instinct: you'll need to be particularly vigilant when cohabiting with other, smaller animals. These medium-sized dogs are long and slender. Their coat is short, smooth and dense. The Swiss Hound is distinguished from other breeds by its coat, which is generally white with orange-fawn patches or saddle, sometimes very lightly ticked. Some are also orange fawn.
