History, origin & features
The Italian Shorthaired Hound is a very old breed, believed to have evolved from the hunting dogs of ancient Egypt, imported to Europe by Phoenician traders. The Italian Shorthaired Hound is a hunting companion par excellence: hardy, tenacious, tireless and courageous, it is very fast and ideally suited to stalking hares and wild boars. These medium-sized dogs are robust and well-proportioned, with lean muscles. As its name suggests, the coat is short, stiff and smooth. Its coat can be any shade of fawn.
