Italian Hound (wire-haired)

History, origin & features

The Italian Hound is a very old breed, believed to be descended from the hunting dogs of ancient Egypt, imported to Europe by Phoenician traders. Italian Wirehaired Hounds are excellent hunting companions: hardy, tenacious, tireless and courageous, they can adapt to any terrain. They can work in packs and are very docile, with lean muscles. Its coat does not exceed 5 cm, and is coarse except on the head, where there is a beard. Its coat can be any shade of fawn.
