Short-haired Istrian Hound

History, origin & features

The Istrian Shorthaired Hound is a very old native, found in works of art as early as the 15th century. The Istrian Shorthaired Hound is a hunting dog par excellence: attentive and hard-working, it is specifically used for hunting hares and foxes. These medium-sized dogs are slightly lower than their wirehaired counterparts, and longer in stature. Its short, fine coat has a snow-white ground color, spotted with orange on certain parts of the body, accentuating its noble appearance.
